REEF, 2021 is a series of ceramic objects, raising associations with marine lifeforms and coral reefs and were created with experimental glazing and firing techniques. This experiment seeks to honor the reef and its essential role in our global ecosystem and its complexity as a living identity. REEF was created with her own glazes made of minerals, sand and shells. These hand-built and wheel-thrown objects were fired in reduction and oxidation atmospheres to push the boun-daries of clay, resulting in unique, one of a kind objects. The surfaces were inspired by textures of corals, reefs, mollusks and sponges.

All shells were gifted to the artist. No shell was collected from the beach or anywhere else.
